Dr. Berman received his M.D. degree from the University of Mississippi, and completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Following this, Dr. Berman completed a fellowship in Cardiology at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans where he served as Chief Fellow. He then completed a fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Berman is board certified in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Cardiology.

He received a Master in Public Health from Augusta University, as well as a Master of Science in Health Economics, Outcomes and Management in Cardiovascular Sciences from the London School of Economics.

Dr. Berman joined the faculty at MCG in 2006, and primarily focuses on complex arrhythmia ablation including stereotactic/robotic ablation of arrhythmias in clinically diverse patient populations including those with congenital heart disease. His research currently focuses upon stereotactic ablation of ventricular tachycardia, cost-effectiveness analysis of various cardiovascular interventions, and economic variables affecting cardiovascular outcomes.
