Biosafety Training

How to Access Training

Biosafety Training is completed in one of three ways:

    1. Augusta University Paid Affiliates will use the Percipio Application
      1. Log on to https://share.percipio.com/cd/yfuq7eFY0 using JagID and Password
      2. Choose the appropriate tab for training
        1. Initial Biological Safety and Bloodborne Pathogen Training
        2. NIH Guidelines for Research
        3.   2024-2026 Shipping Biological Substances and Support Materials
        4. 2025 Biosafety and Bloodborne Pathogen Refresher Training
    1. Augusta University non-compensated personnel and students will use the D2L Training System
      1. Biosafety Office will request personnel to be enrolled in the appropriate training module
      2. Non-compensated and students should receive email notification when enrolled
      3. For Initial Biosafety Training, log on to Homepage - Initial Biosafety Training, or for Biosafety Refresher Training, log on to Homepage - Refresher - BioSafety Training
    2. Non-affiliated personnel
      1. Are provided an electronic version of the IBC training (called Storybook version)
      2. Personnel review the training slides
      3. Send completed quiz to BIOSAFETY@augusta.edu for grading and recording training as completed.

Training Modules

Initial Biosafety and Bloodborne Pathogen Training

  • Audience: Principal Investigators and all personnel before beginning work with biological materials for research purposes and those overseeing biological use. 
  • Frequency: Once
  • Grade to pass: 70% or higher to complete the course.

Annual Biological Safety and Bloodborne Pathogen Refresher Training

If you have not been assigned this module through Workforce Learn Online (in which case, it would be listed among your lessons to be completed), we may not have a record of completing the pre-requisite "Initial Biosafety and Bloodborne Pathogen Training" course. Please contact the Biological Safety Office for questions or concerns.

  • Audience: Principal Investigators and all personnel before beginning work with biological materials for research purposes and those overseeing biological use. This training is assigned during Annual Compliance Month.
  • Frequency: Annually
  • Grade to pass: 75% or higher to complete the course.

Start Training

NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant or Synthetic Nucleic Acid Molecules

The course is available through Workforce Learn Online and is assigned during the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) review and when new researchers are added to the research protocol.   

  • Audience: Principal Investigators and for all personnel conducting research that is subject to the NIH Guidelines. 
  • Frequency: Once
  • Grade to pass: 70% or higher to complete the course.
