Psychological Sciences

Our mission is to enhance the brand of Augusta University, leverage opportunities to advance our clinical, research, and educational missions.

The Department of Psychological Sciences offers a Bachelor of Science with a major in Psychology, a Pre-Medicine Track, and a minor in psychology. We also offer three Master of Science degrees in three different concentrations: Clinical, General Experimental, and Applied Experimental Psychology. See our full course listing.

Psychology is one of the largest and most popular majors at AU and across the nation. Our alumni go into a wide variety of fields such as human resources, business, nursing, medical school, counseling, advertising, and research—just to name a few! Students who choose to get a graduate degree in psychology have further career options such as being a licensed therapist, academician, school counselor, statisticians, behavior analysis, genetic counselors, or sports psychologists.

Undergraduate

Our undergraduate psychology curriculum is diverse in order to reflect the breadth of the field from the biological bases to the social determinants of behavior. Our students also gain hands-on experience via faculty-supervised undergraduate research opportunities and numerous community-based volunteer and internship positions.

With a Master of Science degree in psychology from Augusta University, you'll be well prepared for a career in mental health or research, or to work toward a doctoral degree. While earning your degree, you will gain practical experience in clinical, research and/or teaching internships and have the opportunity to complete an independent research thesis.

Diverse Faculty Backgrounds

Our faculty is committed to teaching and conducting research in both the scientific and applied areas of psychology. Faculty areas of expertise include clinical, social, experimental, learning and cognition, biopsychology, and developmental.

Well-rounded Educational Experience

Students have a wide variety of psychology courses from which to choose, but additional experiences and opportunities are available beyond the classroom.
