Duty Hours
Our faculty and housestaff are dedicated to following the RRC guidelines for duty
hours:
- PGY-1 residents are not allowed to work more than 16 consecutive hours.
- PGY-2 and PGY-3 residents are not allowed to work more than 24 consecutive hours.
- All residents have a minimum of 8 hours off between duties - most often there are
at least 10 hours off.
- No resident works an average of more than 80 hours per week.
- Golden weekends - a consecutive Saturday & Sunday off - have been maintained for all
residents.
- Work hours are reported using an online system to ensure accurate record-keeping.
