Division Accomplishments Academic Year 2014-2015


  • Continued accreditation of the allergy-immunology fellowship program from the ACGME, with no citations or areas for improvement.
  • Training 4 fellows, 3 with pediatric backgrounds and 1 with med-peds background. Two positions are funded by the Department of Pediatrics.
  • The two fellows graduating in June 2014 passed the ABAI examination on the first attempt.
  • Provided education to rotating pediatric residents, and to 3rd year students on the pediatrics clerkship.
  • Service as Core Clinical Educator, mentoring small groups for first- and second-year medical students, director of pediatric physical diagnosis, presented 12 lecture sessions in immunology to 2nd year students.
  • Course director, Current Views in Allergy and Immunology, Augusta University Continuing Education
  • Offered a Spirituality in Medicine elective for medical students
  • Allergy-immunology fellows have provided noon conferences for pediatrics, and presented at Grand Rounds.
  • Presented a “Beat the Professor” case discussion seminar (with fellows) at the Southeastern Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Society annual meeting.
  • Presented abstracts, a symposium lecture, and moderated a plenary session, at the annual meeting of the ACAAI
  • Presented an invited lecture at the annual meeting of the AAAAI.

Research and Scholarship

  • Published 9 peer-reviewed papers, 3 abstracts, 1 book chapter, and 1 book chapter and 1 book review in press.
  • Two allergy-immunology fellows had first author peer-reviewed publications.
  • Co-PI on one NIH grant and co-investigator on 4 other NIH grants.
  • Submitted as CO-PI a program project grant with direct costs of $6.3 million.
  • Participated in 4 studies of rheumatologic disease.
