For Students
STUDENTS
We offer students funding through the Provost's Student Research Program (SRP).
The SRP is a campus-wide initiative intended to offer a mentored research experience
for any fulltime undergraduate or graduate student with an Augusta University faculty
member. Initiated in 2015, the SRP offers up to $1000 in research support (through
the voucher program) for a mentored student research project. To qualify, the student
and mentor must participate in a studio justifying the request. The voucher must be
used to advance the research project presented at the studio.
RESIDENTS AND FELLOWS
The TRP offers support to residents and fellows interested in research via studios,
vouchers and assistance with finding a mentor. Once a mentor is identified, prepare
your research protocol and request a studio. If dollars are needed to support your
work, seek a voucher after successful completion of the studio. Remember both you
and your mentor must attend the studio. It is expected that you and your mentor will
review the studios materials carefully and attend the studio prepared to explain the
work in detail to the committee. Short power point presentations (<10 slides) are
encouraged for particularly complex studios.
The TRP has helped sponsor resident and fellow research that has led to regional and
national presentations, as well as manuscript publications.
The Translational Research Program in the Department of Medicine is one platform for
assisting in research projects for residents and fellows in the Department of Medicine.
Once you have identified a faculty mentor and have a general idea of your project,
please go to the TRP website and request a studio http://www.augusta.edu/mcg/medicine/research/trp/request-studio.php . From the studio, a more clear direction on your work can be identified.
Other clinical, translational and basic science opportunities abound for trainees
at every level.
