In 1979, two Catholic nuns (Sisters Kathryn Cliatt & June Racicot) along with dedicated community members, founded George E. Wilson Memorial Health Services, Inc. (the Wilson Clinic) to provide health care to a rural community located at the foothills of the North Georgia mountains. That original clinic, now Georgia Highlands Medical Services (GHMS), was located in a double-wide trailer & served approximately 168 patients a year.
Today, GHMS has eight locations in Bartow, Cherokee, Dawson, Forsyth & Hall counties and offers a wide range of general and specialized medical services to include Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Women’s Health, OB/GYN, Behavioral Health and Chiropractic Care.
