Christ Community Health (CCH) was founded in 2007 and opened its Olde Town medical clinic in the Boardman Widows Home in 2011 in downtown Augusta. CHC is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and a Level III National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Recognized Patient Centered Medical Home operating four community practice sites in Augusta Georgia. This FQCH, which is a not-for-profit faith-based comprehensive Primary Healthcare practice, provides adult, women’s health, pediatrics, dental, physical therapy, and behavioral health care services with compassion to more than 7,300 underinsured and uninsured families from a 10-county region in and around Augusta. These services are provided by an interprofessional care team of physicians (internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, and psychiatry), nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dentists, licensed clinical social workers, and others. This faith-based practice to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ by providing affordable, quality health care access to all, especially those with socioeconomic challenges.

Christ Community Health (CCH) has a long history of Medical College of Georgia (MCG) student education participation and offering preceptorships and shadowing experiences for health science students in various disciplines from other schools “Gap Year” Medical Scribe and Quality Improvement Internships are available for students planning to enter health care profession education programs. CCH is using its’ clinical platforms to provide a variety of required and elective clinical student experiences as an MCG Educational Affiliate. These learning opportunities are supervised by members of the CCH’s physician staff who also serve as MCG Community Clinical Faculty members and are further facilitated by others in the interprofessional team of healthcare providers.
