Pediatric Heart Surgery
Pediatric Heart Surgery and the Children's Heart Center at Children's Hospital of
Georgia provide diagnostic and therapeutic options for pediatric patients with all
forms of congenital heart defects.
Our comprehensive pediatric heart surgery program includes a specialized pediatric
cardiothoracic surgeon, cardiologists, neonatologists, intensivists, anesthesiologists
and postoperative support groups are involved and dedicated to provide the best care
for children with complex heart diseases.
We apply the same skill and focus to our research and educational resources. We are
the only center in the state of Georgia and surrounding regions that aggressively
implements blood conservation surgery to decrease or eliminate children's exposure
to blood products, and to improve their operative and long-term outcome.
Our center treats complete neonatal correction of complex congenital heart defects,
including patients with:
- Atrioventricular Canal (AV Canal or AVC)
- Pediatric ECMO
- Tetralogy of Fallot
- Total anomalous pulmonary venous return
- Transposition of the great vessels
- Truncus arteriosus
