Dr. Alyce Oliver was appointed Program Director of the MCG Internal Medicine Residency in 2019.  She previously served as the Program Director for the MCG Rheumatology fellowship for 7 years. Dr. Oliver is passionate and committed to teaching others about internal medicine and rheumatology.  Her goal is to inspire and instill curiosity and dedication to the field of medicine while helping produce compassionate, competent physicians that are prepared for fellowship or independent practice. 

She is honored to hold the inaugural Joseph P. Bailey, MD Chair in Rheumatology.  Dr. Oliver is the 2019 recipient of the Distinguished Faculty award in patient care, the 2016 beneficiary of the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award, and the 2015 awardee of the Distinguished Faculty Award for clinical science teaching. She has won numerous “Exemplary Teaching Awards” and was inducted into the Augusta University Academy of Educators in 2013. She is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor medical society and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Rheumatology. She is currently serving as the Chair of the FDA’s Arthritis Advisory Committee.

Dr. Oliver completed her undergraduate training at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.  She obtained her PhD and later her medical degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  She successfully completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Cincinnati and her Rheumatology Fellowship at Duke University. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology.

Clinically, Dr. Oliver provides compassionate, holistic, patient-centered care and strives to improve the lives of those with rheumatic disease.  She has a reputation of providing exceptional treatment and care while forming trusting, long-term relationships with her patients.  Her clinical interest is inflammatory arthritis, specifically rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis.  Dr. Oliver also co-directs the Uveitis specialty clinic with Ophthalmologist, Dr. Zach Lukowski. 

In her spare time, she is enjoys spending time outside with her husband and three children.
