Appreciate the necessity for providing care for both the acute and chronically ill

GOAL #3: ABILITY TO ESTABLISH EFFECTIVE PHYSICIAN-PATIENT RELATIONSHIPS

Collect and record historical data recognizing the impact of the patient's hereditary,
social, economic, religious, family and occupational background on his or her presenting
problem.
Understand the characteristics of various lifestyles and life cycles of a family and
their effects on health and disease.
Recognize the importance of the psychosocial aspects of health and disease.
Perform physical examinations and record resulting data.
Order appropriate laboratory studies for both ambulatory and hospitalized patients
and record the data.
Write progress notes and summaries on ambulatory and hospitalized patients for both
acute and chronic care needs.
Perform diagnostic procedures and record the data.
Use the problem-oriented record system to record data and maintain patient records.
GOAL #5: SKILLS IN MAKING APPROPRIATE CLINICAL JUDGEMENTS
Objectives:
Recognize medical emergencies and establish health care priorities.
Define patient's problems by using sound judgment in the selection and sequence of
studies.
Evaluate available information in making a diagnosis and use knowledge related to
problems frequently seen in Family and Community Medicine.
Establish appropriate diagnosis through comprehensive knowledge and intelligent interpretation
of carefully selected clinical information.

Assess health risk factors based upon knowledge of the patient's age, sex, habits,
