Dermatology Externship


DERM 5001

Category: Clinical
Classification: 4 Weeks

Course Description: Students will see Dermatology patients in the hospital clinic. When available students will participate in Dermatopathology teaching conferences, Morphology Conferences, Grand Rounds, Basic Science teaching conferences, and Journal Club. Supervision will be provided by the dermatology faculty as well as house staff in some locations.

Dermatology Off-Campus Externship


DERM 5002

Note: this course requires application using VSAS or other arrangements made by the student. Off-Campus Add Form Required.

Course Description: Students will learn dermatology and dermatopathology in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings depending on the structure of the chosen rotation.

Advanced Dermatology


DERM 5003

Category: Clinical

Course Description: This elective is designed for students who plan to enter Dermatology residency training. Like students in the 5001 course, participants will see patients at the MCG Hospital and Clinics as well as in the VAMC Dermatology Clinic. Students will participate in Dermatopathology teaching conferences, Morphology Conferences, Grand Rounds, Basic Science teaching conferences, and Journal Club. Supervision will be provided by the dermatology faculty and house staff. In addition, students in this course will be given more opportunity to participate in Dermatology research and scholarly projects.
