MCG Early Assurance Pathway | MS to MD

The MS in Medical Physiology program provides an avenue for students to pursue academic, professional & personal growth in preparation for a career in the medical field. This program is the only one of its kind in Georgia.

  • Two-semester course-based program.
  • Rigorous curriculum in physiology mirrors the learning objectives of medical school.
  • Instruction by faculty currently engaged in medical and graduate school teaching.
  • Personalized advising for academic support, personal growth, & career development.
  • Face-to-face, on-campus instruction, with frequent opportunities for content reinforcement (case studies, hands-on activities, etc.) encourage students to strengthen their academic skills.

Program Requirements

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, with no course grades below a B.
  • Follow the Advanced Coursework Pathway (not the Research Track) during the second semester.
  • Complete at least 20 hours of clinical exposure or community service while enrolled.
  • No additional interview or MCAT retake is required.
  • Final review by the MCG Admissions Committee will occur in February 2026.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior consistent with AU and MCG policies.

 

Campus Assignment

  • Students accepted through Early Assurance are guaranteed a campus assignment.
  • A campus preference form will be sent after the February 2026 Admissions Committee review and must be returned within two weeks.
  • Note: Students assigned to the Augusta campus may complete Clerkship Curriculum at a regional

Tuition & Fees (2024-2025 AY):
In-state Tuition: $4,801 per semester
Out-of-state Tuition: $13,610 per semester
Mandatory Fees: $675 per semester
Graduate Lab Assistantships available
