William M. Andrews

Bill Andrews received his BA in Art from the Univ. of Texas at Austin and his MA in Biomedical Communications from the Univ. of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Health Promotion, Education and Behavior at the University of South Carolina, Columbia. He is a Certified Medical Illustrator (CMI)

Bill began his professional career as a medical illustrator at the Univ. of Arizona Health Science Center at Tucson before moving to Houston, Texas in 1981. He worked in varying capacities in the Texas Medical Center, including as Art Director for the Texas Heart Institute and as Manager of Medical Illustration & Graphic Design Services at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He was honored to join the MCG faculty in 1999, where he is now a tenured Professor. He was appointed Interim Chair and Program Director on July 1, 2011. He also serves as Director of the David J. Mascaro Teaching Gallery of Medical Illustration.

Michael A. Jensen

Mike Jensen received his BFA from Brigham Young University in 1992 and served as Directing Animator and Supervising Animator for two children's educational software companies in Boston, MA from 1994-2002. Several products produced during those years won national awards, including all five of their Curious George titles. Mike has also illustrated 14 children's books, 12 of which have been published in numerous languages.

In 2005, Mike received his Master of Science in Medical Illustration degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He worked for the Departments of Neurosurgery and Neurology at MCG Medical Center as their medical illustrator from 2005-2011. Simultaneously, Mike served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Medical Illustration Graduate Program. In May, 2011 Mike joined the Department of Medical Illustration as a full-time faculty member.

Assistant Professor, Amanda Behr

A native of Georgia, Amanda Yarberry Behr studied 3D animation at the Savannah College of Art & Design before going on to earn her BFA in Scientific Illustration from the University of Georgia in Athens. She is a 2004 graduate of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine program in Biological and Medical Illustration. She completed internships in anaplastology with Juan Garcia at the Johns Hopkins Facial Prosthetics Clinic and with Gillian Duncan for Prosthetics at Graphica Medica. She became a Certified Medical Illustrator in 2005. She will soon become a certified clinical anaplastologist.

Amanda served as Director of Medical Illustration for Quality Medical Publishing, Inc (QMP) for over 8 years. She has a wealth of experience and expertise in business practices and print industry standards. In January of 2013, Amanda joined the Faculty of the Department of Medical Illustration at Augusta University as Assistant Professor.

Amanda serves on the board of the International Anaplastology Association, and in May 2014 became the President. Amanda has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Vesalius Trust. Amanda has received numerous awards for her work as an illustrator and art director including three Certificates of Merit from the Association of Medical Illustrators. In addition, she has more than 65 publications to her credit.

Diana Flicek

Diana Janke Flicek was born in Ft. Smith, AR and was raised as an “Army brat”. Her family lived in Europe, and on both the east and west coasts of our country. Diana married an Augusta native 30 years ago and their family is blessed with a daughter, son, and 3 grandchildren, and a Jack Russell and a Fox Terrior.

Diana found her way to the Dept. of Medical Illustration in November, 2011 after 9 years at MCG/GHSU. Her career has included roles that range from Clerkship Co-ordinator in the Dept. of Psychiatry to School Certifying Official for our military students while functioning as Office Manager in the Registrar's Office.
