Clinical Trial

Phenome and Genome of Diabetes Autoimmunity (PAGODA): 1. High-Throughput Confirmation of Serum Biomarkers for Type 1 Diabetes; 2. Development of Microarray-Based Biomarkers for Type 1 Diabetes

The purpose of this study is to identify the risk factors for developing diabetes and related complications. The study will identify metabolic and immune system changes resulting from either T1D or T2D or related complications. The results will improve our understanding of the causes of diabetes and the causes and effects of its complications.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Children and adults wishing to participate in genetic screening for diabetes risk based on family participation (often the parents and siblings of newborns screening in PAGODA 1 or TEDDY) and some long-term follow-up. These participants do not have type 1 or type 2 diabetes, and must provide informed consent and any applicable minor assent upon enrollment. Children and adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes or associated complications such as chronic kidney disease, cardiovascular disease and neurological diseases.
