STAR Program Admissions
The ideal Summer STAR applicant is one who has a sincere interest in pursuing a graduate education in biomedical sciences through a PhD or MD/PhD program.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Summer STAR program has been canceled.

In order to be eligible to participate in the STAR Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
18 years or older by start of the STAR session
Completion of at least freshman year in college
Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
Minimum GPA of 3.0 in science courses
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program*
Proof of current Health Insurance Coverage that extends throughout the duration of the Summer STAR Program
United States Citizenship (or hold permanent resident status) or international students currently enrolled in US college/university holding a student non-immigrant visa**
Proof of current social security number/card for employment purposes, with original card for documentation
* Candidates who have already graduated from undergraduate college, or will be graduating in Spring 2020 are not eligible for this program. Students currently enrolled in specialized 4 plus 1 or other types of accelerated degree programs should contact The Graduate School to discuss potential eligibility.
** It is the responsibility of the individual applicant to check with the international office at their home institution to determine eligibility for the STAR program and the proper procedures necessary to follow if accepted.
Acceptance into the program is on a competitive basis. The members of the STAR program committee, the Dean of The Graduate School and/or the Director of the STAR program are responsible for all final decisions.

After you (STAR Applicant) submit your application, you will receive a confirmation email from the STAR program within three business days. If you do not receive a confirmation, please email us.
Official College Transcript(s)
Please request to have your official transcript(s) to be sent to the STAR office directly from your university's registrar's office via postal mail or electronically. Official transcripts can be directed to:

2 Letters of Recommendation
Within the application, you will provide names and current email address for two individuals you have asked to serve as your recommenders. Please note: one recommendation must be submitted from a current or recent (research) mentor or (science) professor.
Once your application has been submitted, each recommender will receive an email notification directing them to the online site where they can complete their recommendation. You will receive an automated email when a recommender submits their letter of recommendation on your behalf. To change a recommender after your application has been submitted, please email STAR@augusta.edu with your request.
The STAR application will be unavailable from 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. Eastern Standard
Time and occasionally on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. We apologize
for any inconvenience and encourage you to complete and submit your STAR application
during times when the STAR application is accessible.
