In order to help Augusta University welcome elected officials, dignitaries, international guests, and elevate the University's profile on the state, federal, and international stages, the Augusta University Office of Protocol and Special Events created the Augusta University Protocol Guide.
The guide is intended to serve as a resource, providing support for community economic developers, local officials, and any Augusta University unit hosting international visitors and dignitaries, planning an event, or researching and learning about protocol fundamentals.
It also answers questions frequently asked of our office and should help those preparing for official (and unofficial) occasions and functions. The Augusta University Protocol Guide is based on the information contained in The State of Georgia Protocol Guide that was produced by the Georgia Department of Development International Relations division.
Please be sure to review the university Brand Guidelines, and the university Style Guide documents. The Events Style Guide is specifically for place cards, invitations, and name badges.
OPSE provides management and protocol expertise for members of the Augusta University community in support of high-level state, national, and international visitors and delegations to the campus, including visits by heads of state and senior government officials. Please complete the request form international visitors.
Please visit the Government Relations website for protocol regarding invited elected officials.
For additional information regarding international visitors, please see our event planning tools page.
If you have any questions on how to properly display a flag, please review our Flag Protocol Guide. Any further clarification, please contact our office.
