Leave Time (Vacation, Education, and Wellness)
- Each resident is allowed three full weeks (15 working days) of vacation each year. Vacation time is not accumulated from year to year.
- Educational Leave time may be allowed, at the discretion and approval of the Program Director, to attend Meetings, Conferences, or Training Courses.
- AU Holidays and Comp Days for Holidays which are worked
- December Holiday Schedule / One-Week On, One-Week Off
- 3 Wellness Days per year
Sick and Parental Leave
- All residents are entitled to two weeks of sick leave time (14 days). After PGY-1, up to one week of of sick leave may carry over for a maximum of 21
days, if that time was not used in the previous year.
- The University System of Georgia (USG) provides 6 weeks of paid parental leave and
3 weeks paid maternal leave
**Please note, all leave taken during OBGYN Residency training must comply with the
American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) Leave Policy for our Graduation Requirement

meetings are fully supported by the program.
Call Schedule
During residency, average call frequency is 2-3 nights per month. Each PGY Class works collectively to determine their own call schedule, which is
then submitted to the administrative chief for approval. Call shifts are on Fridays,
Saturdays, and Sundays and are comprised of a Chief (PGY3/4), PGY2, and a PGY1. Night Float residents are exempt from weekend call during their rotation month.
On-call meals and sleeping quarters are provided at our hospital, Wellstar MCG Health.
