PhenoTyper

Description

The PhenoTyper is a computer-automated home-cage testing system to assess behavioral activity in rodents within a controlled environment. PhenoTyper home-cage testing offers several advantages such as minimal handling, long-term recording, and automated analyses. Both exploratory behaviors and locomotor activity are automatically detected and analyzed while animals are in the cage and include distance traveled, velocity, frequency of entries, and time spent exploring particular zones.

Purpose

The PhenoTyper can also be equipped with various instruments such as running wheels, lickometers, and shelters. The PhenoTyper is a useful tool for phenotyping transgenic animal models and evaluating pharmaceutical agents and toxins for their effects on overall behavior.
