Human Brain Lab

Augusta University Pediatric Epilepsy Program Faculty and Staff

Human Brain Lab

The Human Brain Lab was designed with the intention of providing a rich resource for the study of human epilepsy.

Epilepsy research is conducted on human brain tissue that has been removed from patients with intractable epilepsy, due to various causes, to better understand the pathophysiologic basis of various types of seizure disorders and epileptic syndromes.

Medical College of Georgia's Epilepsy Program at Augusta University studies the synaptic architecture of temporal lobe brain tissue in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy, as well as the functional and anatomic characteristics of brain tissue in patients with brain tumors and epilepsy.
