Alternate Work Arrangement/Accommodations

We recognize that we may have employees who are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19.  In order to protect the health and well-being of our students, patients and employees we have created the below process for employees to request an alternate work arrangement/accommodation due to COVID-19.  This process is only applicable to high risk employees as defined by the CDC.

To request an alternate work arrangement/accommodation due to COVID-19, please complete the Alternate Work Arrangement/Accommodation Form and submit to Human Resources (HR) at AU_HR_CONFIDENTIAL@augusta.edu or by fax at 706-721-1996.

Once the request is received, HR will notify and engage the employees department regarding the request for alternate work arrangement/accommodation.  If determined this is a request for an extension and/or alteration of an existing accommodation, the request will be forwarded to our ADA Coordinator.

For additional questions or more information, please contact Morgan Chavous, Director of Benefits, Data Management & Faculty Support Services at 706-721-0960 or mchavous@augusta.edu OR Chris Hunt, Leave Specialist at 706-721-3836 or chunt@augusta.edu

Face Covering Exemption Request

Effective July 15, University System of Georgia institutions will require all faculty, staff, students, and visitors to wear an appropriate face covering while inside campus facilities/buildings where six feet social distancing may not always be possible. Face covering use will be in addition to and is not a substitute for social distancing.

Face coverings are not required when alone in an enclosed office or in campus outdoor settings where social distancing requirements are met.  Anyone not using a face covering when required will be asked to wear one or must leave the area. Repeated refusal to comply with the requirement may result in discipline through the applicable conduct code for faculty, staff or students.

CDC recognizes that wearing cloth face coverings may not be possible in every situation or for some people. Based on the information from the CDC, reasonable accommodations may be made for those who are unable to wear a face covering for documented health reasons.

To request an exemption form the requirement to wear a face covering, faculty and staff must complete the Face Covering Exemption Request form and submit to AU_HR_CONFIDENTIAL@augusta.edu or by fax at 706-721-1996.

Should you need assistance with the process or form, please contact Chris Hunt by telephone, 706-721-3836 or email, chunt@augusta.edu.
