Admission to and completion of a Tier I program (M.Ed. Leadership or Leadership Tier I Certification Only) will not ensure employment in a leadership position, nor will it guarantee a pay increase. According to Georgia law, individuals must be employed by a Local Unit of Administration (LUA) in a position that requires leadership certification in order to receive a pay increase based upon earning Tier I certification.

Educational Leadership – Tier I (Field 700) is the entry-level Educational Leadership certification. Educators certified in this field may work in school-level leadership positions below the principal and district-level leadership positions that do not supervise principals. Any certificate in this field becomes obsolete upon issuance of a renewable, professional certificate in Educational Leadership – Tier II.
