The library will place whole book(s) and audiovisual material on Reserve at the Information Desk. Items that are on Academic Year Reserve at the Information Desk beginning in Fall Semester must have a new request form each year. Items not previously on reserve will need a reserve form submitted. Items owned by Reese Library will be pulled by the reserve staff when the completed reserve form is submitted via email, fax, etc. Items without current reserve forms will be withdrawn from the Reserve Shelves.

Faculty must agree to follow copyright guidelines when submitting reserve material. For more information on copyright see the Copyright Regulations links below.

To guarantee access when semester classes begin, please return the completed form(s) with your material to the Access Services Department at least two weeks before the first day of class. Requests received late will be processed in the order received.

We request your cooperation in the following:

  1. Only items that you require your students to use should be placed on reserve. Allow for one week minimum processing time to add new reserves. Please limit to 5 copies per title placed on reserve. Material acquired through GIL Express or ILLiad (interlibrary loan) cannot be placed on reserve.
  2. If the item is owned by the library, please submit the appropriate reserve form and the reserve staff will pull the book for you.
If Reese Library or the faculty member does not own the item(s) needed for reserve, please contact your Department Chair about using your department's Reese Library collection allocation to purchase the item(s).
  3. Please provide your students with a list of material which will be on reserve and the date materials can be expected to be available.

If you have any suggestions, questions or problems relating to the use of the Book Reserve, please contact Us.

Students

Books placed on reserve by course instructors are kept behind the Information Desk on the first floor of the library. A valid JagCard must be shown in order to borrow these items. Loan periods for books on reserve are designated by the course instructor. Overdue fines for reserve material vary according to the loan period.

The Reese Library Reserve listings are integrated into the GIL Library Catalog. In order to find this material, please go to GIL and click on Course Reserves. Once there, you may search the Reserve holdings by instructor, department or course.
