Summer is officially over.  October is an exciting time at the Maxwell Theatre.  We open October with the Augusta University Gala Concert featuring students in all of the University ensembles.  The next day we highlight students in recital at the Westobou Festival Student Showcase.  The Westobou Festival is back in a big way this year with the film Athens, GA - Inside/Out and a special performance by the Pylon Reenactment Society.  Other Westobou events here include the Russian String Orchestra and Hillary-Marie's Sole Music Collective featuring special guest Wycliffe Gordon.  In October there is no time to sit still.  As soon as Westobou concludes the Indo-American Cultural Association is back with a truly remarkable concert "Dil-Se" featuring Bollywood playback singer Talat Aziz.  Children play an important role in the life of the Maxwell Theatre and this month both Porkchop Productions and Storyland Theatre return to welcome them back for the fall.  There is even more.  The Opera Ensemble returns in October, as well as the Cinema Series, the Cancer Center, and the Department of Chemistry and Physics with a sceince show that is fun for the whole family.
