Professor Schmidt turned an internship into a 5 year relationship with the Walt Disney World Co. in Orlando, Fl, as the Magic Kingdom vault teller, a Financial Hostess, and Retail Specialist until she joined Electrolux. At Electrolux, a 5 billion dollar division of the Swedish company AB Electrolux, she served as a Financial Analyst and product manager in sales, the Corporate Finance Director, and a Senior Project Manager for IT, Marketing, and Operations until getting married. While at Electrolux Buffie was credited with the successful conversion to Cognos financial software, the creation and implementation of a 15 month rolling forecast as well as a supplier scorecard program ensuring quality improvement for all corporate suppliers.
Professor Schmidt graduated from Brenau University with a BS in Computer Science and Mathematics in 1997, and from Augusta State University with an MBA and Ed.S. in 1999 and 2009 respectively. She returned to the academic environment as an Adjunct Professor of Management and Finance for Troy University in 2003. In 2008, she came to Augusta State University, now Augusta University, and has taught classes in Economics, Marketing, and Computer and Information Sciences.
