The AAMC’s Learn, Serve, Lead conference is the largest medical education conference in the U.S. and attracts both national and international scholars.
  • Southern Group on Educational Affairs (SGEA)
    • The AAMC has divided the U.S. and Canadian medical schools into four regions to ensure those in geographic proximity have an opportunity to collaborate and share their research. Together, these four regions make up the Group on Educational Affairs (GEA). MCG belongs to the Southern Group on Educational Affairs (SGEA), which fosters excellence in research, professional development, and service within UME, GME, and CME.
  • Medical Education Scholarship, Research and Evaluation (MESRE)
    • Each of the four AAMC regions has a sub-group known as MESRE that focuses on supporting scholarship in medical education. This subgroup works coordinates activities between AAMC and the regional groups to enhance the quality of research in medical education and promote its applicability to educational practice.
  • Group on Informational Resources (GIR) 
    • The GIR is another subgroup within the AAMC. The GIR promotes excellence in the application and integration of information resources in academic medicine, focusing specifically on information technology.
  • Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) 
    • The ACGME employs best practices, research, and advancements across the continuum of medical education to demonstrate its dedication to enhancing health care and graduate medical education.
  • International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE
    • IAMSE is a nonprofit professional development society organized and directed by health professions educators whose goals include promoting excellence and innovation in teaching, student assessment, program evaluation, instructional technology, human simulation, and learner-centered education.
  • Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) 
    • ASME is a UK focused, internationally-facing membership organization of people with a commitment and interest in medical education and training.
  • Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) 
    • AMEE is a worldwide organization with members in 90 countries on five continents. Members include teachers, educators, researchers, administrators, curriculum developers, deans, assessors, students and trainees in medicine and the healthcare professions. 
  • Society for Directors of Research in Medical Educational (SDRME) 
    • This non-profit organization is dedicated to enhancing the quality of education in medical schools. It is composed of directors of units responsible for educational research, evaluation, and program development. Directors gather twice annually to discuss issues in medical education research, problem-solve various challenges, and create a community that supports those who supervise educational scholarship.
  • The International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH) 
    • IMSH is the annual conference for Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH). This is the largest health professions simulation conference and is attended by interprofessional educators, scholars, and academic leaders.
  • Innovations in Medical Education (IME) 
    • The Innovations in Medical Education Conference is sponsored by the Department of Medical Education and the Office of Continuing Medical Education, Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. The conference provides an excellent opportunity to join a growing community of educators, leaders, scholars, and learners working together to promote change in health professions education, moving towards a higher level of excellence and wellbeing.
  • Medical Library Association (MLA) 
    • The MLA is a nonprofit, educational organization of more than 1,100 institutions and 3,600 individual members in the health sciences information field, committed to educating health information professionals, supporting health information research, promoting access to the world's health sciences information, and working to ensure that the best health information is available to all.
