  • Child Life Specialist 1
As the Surgery Child Life Specialist, my job is to help make the hospital experience less threatening for patients and to prepare them for what they will experience. I provide developmentally appropriate preparation and education to patients prior to surgery. By assessing the individual patient and using tools and strategies such as medical play or a preparation book, I help patients to gain mastery over their hospital and surgery experience while decreasing pre-op anxiety.
