Irradiator Sources Description

Blue Dot The irradiator exposes the sample to gamma radiation from two radioactive sources.
Blue Dot The sources are secured within sliding drawers located symmetrically above and below the sample chamber.
Blue Dot The drawers are held within steel encased lead shields.
Blue Dot Ball screws, driven by an electric motor, move the source drawers from the shielded to the irradiate position.

Blue Dot The capsules are Special Form Certified by the United States Department of Transportation.

Blue Dot MCG Radiation Safety Personnel perform quarterly radiation dose rate surveys and semi-annual leak test surveys on the sources.
