Comprehensive Program Review

Per policy of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, all academic programs must be periodically reviewed. The office manages a scalable process for academic program review based upon whether the program is specially accredited. Programs without specialized accreditations must conduct a full self-study according to institutional criteria every seven years. Programs who are accredited by their discipline’s authoritative accrediting body must prepare an abridged program review summarizing materials submitted to and received by an accreditation review committee within one year of being reaffirmed or reaccredited. All program reviews must evaluate the program’s viability, productivity, and quality according to the guidelines defined by the institution. Specifically, the office provides the following services:

Manages a database to manage a ten-year program review schedule to document and monitor key historic dates, upcoming dates, contacts, and other pertinent information. This information is part of a joint database also addressing program accreditations.

  • Provides information, instructions, and defined work flow to academic programs prior to starting their program reviews.
  • Submits program review documentation to the University System of Georgia.
