Manuscript Writing Guidelines

Research and scholarship take different forms in different disciplines. The Arsenal Editorial Board welcomes submissions that are 1) situated in a field, 2) make an original contribution, 3) clearly articulate the nature of that original contribution, and 4) convince the reading audience of the importance and interest of the research described.

The Arsenal offers two opportunities for publication in regular issues: scholarly research articles and feature articles. CURS is happy to consult with student authors and faculty mentors about submissions.

    • Scholarly Research Articles are 2,000-6,000 words. The word count does not include the title page, abstract (150-250 words), or reference list. Full scholarly research articles must describe completed research and scholarly activity that has a clear introduction, question/hypothesis, results/analysis, and conclusion.
    • Feature Articles are 1,000-2,000 words. The word count does not include the title page, abstract, or reference list. Full feature articles can include academic reflections on the undergraduate research experience.

The Arsenal requires all manuscripts and citations, regardless of type, to be in English and styled following APA 7th Edition, student paper. Please reference APA's Student Paper Setup Guide.
