Dr. Thomas completed a combined 6-year BA/MD medical program at Lehigh University
and the Medical College of Pennsylvania (MCP). He remained at Allegheny General Hospital/MCP
for his internship year and then completed his ophthalmology residency at Brown University
School of Medicine / Rhode Island Hospital.
He went on to complete 2 fellowship-level training programs in both oculoplastic/orbital
surgery and neuro-ophthalmology at the W.K. Kellogg Eye Center at the University of
Michigan. Next, pursued additional exposure to cosmetic facial plastic surgery with
Dr. Robert Flowers at Aesthetic Plastic Surgery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Dr. Thomas is the ONLY subspecialty trained oculoplastics/orbital surgery and neuro-ophthalmology
specialist in the CSRA, and 1 of 2 practitioners within 100+ miles of Augusta. Dr.
Thomas' subspecialty practice focuses on diseases involving the eyelid, orbit and
lacrimal system caused by tumors, trauma, neurologic or age-related changes. He also
provides skilled management and treatment of patients with thyroid eye disease, lacrimal
system disease, orbital fractures or prosthetic eyes. He also has an interest and
experience in aesthetic eyelid and facial surgery, including botulinum toxin, facial
fillers, endoscopic brow and mid-facial surgery, and laser skin resurfacing. He has
been named one of "America's Top Ophthalmologists" and to the "Best Doctor's" list
multiple times.
Dr. Thomas sees both oculoplastics and neuro-ophthalmology patients at the Augusta
University/MCG Medical Center-Downtown location (1120 15th Street Augusta,GA). Oculoplastics
and cosmetic surgery patients may also be seen at his community office location, West
Wheeler Practice site (1220 West Wheeler Pkwy Augusta, GA).
