African American Male Initiative

Why Should I Join?

According to a university Student Engagement Interactive Report, students who seek campus involvement and participate in these initiatives tend to have higher grades and discover a greater sense of purpose within the university community.

Students acquire life-long connections, networks, and skills to prepare them for their graduate and professional careers.

AAMI students will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop a strong rapport with fellow AAMI members, faculty, community leaders, student leaders, and staff
  • Discover opportunities for campus involvement
  • Network with administrators and faculty through AAMI activities and programming with departments and campus organizations
  • Utilize campus resources such as academic tutoring, mentoring and professional development activities to make the most of their undergraduate experience
  • Engage in research opportunities and leadership development
  • Establish connections with peer and community mentors
