Protect Students First: Voices from the Field

The purpose of this qualitative research is to explore and understand the ways in which Georgia public elementary, middle school, and high school United States History educators' view the Protect Students First Act (2022) and how this legislation impacts the educators' instructional practices. To achieve the research purpose, researchers will collect and analyze data on how educators continued or altered their practices regarding controversial issues, as defined by the legislation. Eligibility Criteria

  • Participation will be limited to Georgia Professional Standards Commission-certified educators who: - taught United States History in Georgia in 4th, 8th, or 11th grades during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 school years, and; - express familiarity with the Protect Students First Act (2022).
