What You'll Study
In the Social Work program you’ll study areas including child and family welfare, human behavior, social welfare policy and different types of social work practices.
Experience-based Education
Social work students spend 12 credit hours in two field placements, applying social work knowledge and skills while supervised by a social worker in an off campus setting.
The Social Work Club is the student organization where social work students can meet with fellow students and participate in activities and service projects benefiting the community.
Small, interactive classes and individual mentoring by social workers with considerable practice experience brings the outside world into the classroom through the study of real-world challenges taught by those who encountered them.

Your Future
Child, family and school social workers counsel individuals, families and communities about issues like child abuse, adoptions or teenage pregnancy. Social workers can also work in a health care setting, helping individuals, couples and families cope with illnesses and disabilities, or they can collaborate with medical professionals to determine patient needs, organize support groups or counseling, and refer patients to specialists in support services. They can also work as mental health social works and often provide client services in a nonprofit setting. The coursework also prepares students to pursue advanced degrees in social work or other graduate or professional programs.

“When I first saw samples of Brigid's work, it was evident that she had a strong eye for detail, but it has been exciting to watch her develop as an artist," said Cyndy Epps.
More than 1,250 graduates were celebrated during Augusta University's 2024 commencement ceremonies.
“Making art in general has been very therapeutic for me," said Edna Martinez, a former Marine now art grad. "It's not just a passion anymore. It's become a necessity.”
