A study of the different aspects of international business including, but not limited to international politics, culture, economics, finance, technology, marketing, ethical decision making, strategic planning and management, and human resource development in a global environment.

  • Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of MGMT 3500 and MKTG 3700
  • Note: Students may still take this course without the above courses with prior approval from Professor Mayes

Monday, April 8, 2019
Overview lecture at Monticello House on British Business practices and a thorough synopsis of current business trends.
Visit with Senior Management of a start-up business and learn about how this area of London is becoming a bustling hub for entrepreneurs, as well as the role of emerging small businesses in the economy.
Evening to explore Shoreditch area of city.

Tuesday, April 9, 2019
Opening Ceremony at the Tower of London
Meeting with Marketing and Travel Trade Team at Tower of London who will talk about the importance of sales and marketing.
Optional Beefeater Tour which features history of the Tower and entrance to the Crown Jewels.
Visit with CEO of an Online Digital Marketing company to earn about how the company is structured, the way in which they function, and the marketing industry.

Wednesday, April 10, 2019
Visit to Lloyd's of London Insurance & Financial Services with tour led by a member of staff who will offer in-depth knowledge of the company and London's financial markets.
Entrance to Bank of England Museum with participation in a workshop covering the role of the Bank, the economy and the current financial climate. 

Thursday, April 11, 2019
Walking tour of Financial and Business London focusing on the history, growth and development of one of the world's most influential business districts. 
Visit Major Retail Company, The John Lewis Partnership, which is an example of corporate responsibility. You will tour a store, be taught about their business, marketing and media strategies, and have the opportunity to ask questions about the company as a whole.

Friday, April 12, 2019
Law reform and human rights charity where you will meet with Senior Policy Officers, looking at the organization
as a whole, and the impact they have on the British Justice System.

Saturday, April 13, 2019
London Scavenger Hunt
Farewell Reception at local restaurant

Sunday, April 14, 2019
Transported to the airport by private coach for your flight home
Arrive back in the US

Class will meet on April 26, 2019, 12-2pm, for reflections on program.
