Volunteer Positions in Research

We greatly appreciate our students and others who wish to work in a volunteer capacity in Research.  AU's Office of Volunteer Services, has recently implemented a new process in an effort to ensure consistent volunteer onboarding and badging processes across the medical center and the university.  Going forward, all university volunteers will need to process through the Volunteer Services office prior to receiving a volunteer badge.

*NEW VOLUNTEER REQUEST PROCESS*

University New Volunteer Request Process:

Applies to: Departments who have identified a preferred volunteer candidate, don’t currently have a volunteer position created, and would like to create a new volunteer role in their area.

  1. Department Requestor should complete a Volunteer Request Form here: https://ghsu.wufoo.com/forms/zzgsxd10umvzmy/
  2. Upon receipt of the request, the Office of Volunteer Services will contact the Requestor to discuss their submission.
  3. The pre-identified volunteer applicant will be sent a link to complete the online volunteer application by the Volunteer Services Office.
  4. Upon receipt of the volunteer application, the volunteer will be contacted and processed through the Office of Volunteer Services.
    1. The university volunteer clearance process generally includes:
      1. Completion of general volunteer
      2. Online privacy
      3. Background check
      4. Attend university volunteer orientation
  1. Once the volunteer has completed the clearance process, they will be issued a badge and they will be scheduled to join their assigned department where they should receive a department specific orientation and appropriate safety training based on their assignment.

Please Note:

  • This process is based on the assumption that most university volunteer applicants have already been pre-identified by the departments.  If a department is looking for help in recruiting specific volunteers, that would need to be discussed separately.
  • Please note: Going forward, all university volunteers will be required to log-in and log- out to allow us to track their volunteer We will send instructions for this process to each department as the volunteer prepares to begin their assignment.
