Each year in the Fall, we take the time to recognize our faculty members who have contributed significantly to research at AU in the following categories: Emerging Scientist Award, Distinguished Research Award(s), and Lifetime Achievement Award. Below is a listing of all of our past winners since 2006.
Medical College of Georgia Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology

Education
PhD, Physiology, Pathology, and Rela - University of Szeged Albert Sz, 2008
BA, Pharmaceutical Sciences - University of Szeged Albert Sz, 2003
Research Interests
Regulation of vascular reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in health and disease.
• The role of distinct vascular isoforms of NADPH oxidase (Nox) and increased ROS
generation in the initiation and progression of vascular disorders. • Vascular redox
signaling pathways and identification of new redox targets downstream of Nox activation.
• The role of matricellular protein thrombospondin-1 (TSP1) in vascular disease. •
Interrogation of TSP1-CD47-Nox axis as a proximate promoter of macrophage and vascular
parenchymal cell ROS and its role in atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular disorders.
