The Augusta University String Orchestra Camp is open to students who have completed 8th - 12th grade and have had at least one year of orchestra or private lesson experience.
During camp, students will improve their playing skills and have a lot of fun while playing in the large string orchestra and small chamber ensembles as well as attending masterclasses and musicianship class.
Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
(Early drop off and late pick up will be available from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday)
Friday 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. (At 5 p.m. on Friday, the campers stay on campus for a pizza party after which they prepare for the concert)
Students will eat lunch together every day at the Jaguar Student Activities Center. Lunch can be purchased or students may bring their own lunches.
The Friday evening concert is at 6:30 p.m. and is a demonstration of much of the music the campers have worked on throughout the week. The concert will be in the Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre on the Summerville Campus and lasts approximately 90 minutes.
An audition is not required to attend camp.
Students who are attending camp should video record their chair placement audition and submit it electronically. You can upload your video to YouTube and share the link with us (make sure your video is either "unlisted" or "public" so we are able to view it), or you can submit the file of your video recording.
*Videos must be unedited and a good representation of your playing.
*Videos are due on Wednesday, June 6th.
*Videos should include the following:
1) 1 scale of your choice, 2 or 3 octaves
2) 1 solo selection (etude, orchestral excerpt or solo work for your instrument) of your choice, 5 minute maximum.
