First Year

  1. Introduction to the neurointerventional suite
    1. Interventional suite set up
    2. Radiation and contrast safety
  2. Diagnostic angiography
  3. Neurointerventional case selection: : indications for angiography and intervention
    1. Ischemic stroke
    2. Hemorrhagic disease
    3. Head and neck hemorrhage
    4. Tumor embolization
    5. Head and neck lymphatic and vascular malformation embolization
  4. Inpatient periprocedural patient selection and management
  5. Outpatient patient selection and management

Second Year

  1. Progressive participation in neurointerventional procedures: Fellows will participate in increasingly complex steps of neuro intervention as they demonstrate progressive improvement in aptitude
    1. Ischemic stroke
      1. Cervical and intracranial stenting
      2. Thrombectomy
    2. Hemorrhagic disease
      1. Aneurysm coiling
      2. Vascular malformation embolization
    3. Head and neck hemorrhage
      1. Vessel embolization
    4. Tumor embolization
    5. Head and neck lymphatic and vascular malformation embolization

Ongoing fellow responsibilities

  1. Clinical
    1. Prep patient’s for scheduled and emergency procedures including:
      1. Consent patients and manage periprocedural orders
      2. Post procedural care and handoff to inpatient team
    2. Follow post procedure patients to learn the course of illness
    3. Participate in clinic with the on-call attending
  2. Academic
    1. Attend weekly grand round conferences
    2. Present at bi-monthly stroke conferences
    3. Participate in monthly neurovascular anatomy review conferences
    4. Attend at least one neurovascular conferences per year
    5. Present at least one abstract per year

Subspecialty dependent tasks

  1. Neurology
    1. Telemedicine stroke call
    2. Inpatient attending
    3. Neuro ICU introductory rotation
  2. Neurosurgery
    1. Neurosurgical call including surgical attending
    2. Open vascular and skull base surgery
