Emerging Data Science Methods for Complex Biomedical and Cyber Data

Dates: March 29 - 30, 2019

Venue: Harold Harrison MD Education Commons, Medical College of Georgia (MCG), Augusta University, Augusta, Georgia

The Division of Biostatistics and Data Science in the Department of Population Health Sciences in the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU) is organize this workshop on emerging data science methods for modeling complex biomedical and cyber data. The goal of the proposed two-day workshop is to educate and empower graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and early career researchers and faculty members with emerging statistical methods to address the complex data arising from various fields, in particular, from biosciences and cyber science.

We have witnessed the explosion of complex and big data from various disciplines, social media, cyber traffic, and environment surrounding us in the recent decade.  Data scientists and statisticians are blessed with such variety of data that they have never seen before, yet are also facing many challenges because of the complexity and massiveness of such data.  The goal of this workshop fits into the society’s demand of fostering the collaborative research between data science/statistics and other disciplinary science for the purpose of meeting the very hardest and most important data and model-driven scientific challenges.

The workshop will be in the form of specific research overviews and lectures provided by leading experts in the respective topic areas.  A poster session will be held during the first day of the workshop. Top 3 posters will be selected for poster awards.

This workshop is financially supported by the Augusta University Office of SVP for Research. A limited number of junior researchers will be selected for financial support towards travel, boarding and lodging.
