The Areas of Concentration Program (AoC) is available for M.D. Program students in good academic standing who wish to have an in depth learning experience in an area of scholarly interest during medical school, in addition to the formal curriculum. The characteristics of the AoC at MCG (and that of other AoC programs at other medical schools) are:
The AoC foci considered by the MCG Curriculum Oversight Committee (COC) for AY18-19 include: health policy, public health, global health, leadership and biomedical ethics. Students enrolled in this program will be encouraged to complete additional coursework in the focused area of study, and will have the option of completing a senior year ‘capstone’ project, which may involve inter-professional education (IPE). Because of the intensity of study in these areas of enrichment, the School of Medicine will recognize successful completion of the AoC program by granting a certificate and including specific program accomplishments in the MSPE’s.
