Dr. A.J. Kleinheksel is the Educational Researcher and an Assistant Professor with an appointment in the Department of Medicine. Dr. Kleinheksel brings with her a wealth of educational research experience, having earned both her doctorate in Educational Technology and her Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Florida.
Prior to coming to Augusta University, she was the Director of Instructional Design at Shadow Health in Gainesville, FL, where she managed the design and development of virtual patient simulations for health professions education. She has an extensive background in educational research, including instrument design and program evaluation, which will be invaluable to the EII’s programming for faculty, students, and educator staff.
Dr. Kleinheksel is passionate about leveraging the power of technology to improve instruction, rigorous research methods, and increasing access to education for at-risk populations, because she believes that education has the power to radically transform both individuals and communities. She believes that collaboration always yields better results, and in agile processes and iterative design.
