While the CINAHL database is the most comprehensive database of the nursing literature, also search Ovid MEDLINE (or PubMed) or the ProQuest Nursing and Allied Health Source. Access CINAHL, Ovid, or PubMed from Quick Links on the Library home page; access ProQuest from the GALILEO link in Quick Links.

The Library has access to MEDLINE the bibliographic database to the medical literature through two interfaces, MEDLINE in OvidSP and PubMed. Both links are located from the Library's Quick Links. See the Responsible Literature Searching module for online assistance in searching biomedical literature databases.

The Library subscribes to ProQuest Dissertations and Theses, an international index of dissertations and theses. Access this database from the GALILEO link in Quick Links on the Library home page. Many Augusta University-authored dissertations and theses are listed in the Online Catalog; those listed with the location "Thesis" are usually available for loan. Contact Historical Collections and Archives at 706-721-3444 for access to materials listed in the Online Catalog with the location "Hist Coll."

Alumni Affairs maintains a web pages for alumni. The Library's Historical Collections and Archives created an online history of MCG to honor the institution's 175th anniversary in 2003.

Well-known bibliographic style guides are listed in the Library's Online Catalog for use in the Library; some can be checked-out. The Library provides instruction (by appointment) for the EndNote bibliographic software.

The print collection, located on the first floor, contains textbooks and monographs in the area of the health sciences. A newly created Core Collection contains the newest edition of clinical textbooks. A Historical Reference Collection is available on the second floor. The Journal Collection is also located on the second floor. The journals are arranged in alphabetical order and are divided into pre-1980 volumes and volumes from 1980 forward.

Renewals: journals or books may be recalled after the initial loan period for use by another patron. Renewals must be BEFORE the due date: by phone to the Library Information Center during operating hours, or online from the GIL-Find My Account". Overdue fee: $0.35 per day per item, maximum $10.00 per item. All borrowing is suspended until overdue fees are paid.

Library departments and programs are primarily located in the Robert B. Greenblatt, M.D. Library on Laney-Walker Boulevard next to the Administration Building. The entrance faces Harper Street and the campus building code is AB. On-street, metered parking is available on surrounding streets. Enforcement is strict and ticketing is a frequent occurrence, so watch the clock and bring plenty of quarters. Change is available at the Library Information Center.

Food and drink are allowed in the Library. However, please refrain from consuming food and drink in the Library Computer Lab.

The Library will copy journal articles. Use the "Request an Article/Book" link located on the Library's Quick Links.

The Library has three photocopying machines. Photocopying machines located on the first floor are either coin operated or equipped with Augusta University Cardreaders. Copies are $.15 per page with one machine accepting nickels, dimes, quarters, and $1 bills. A fourth photocopying machine is located on the second floor and will only accept Augusta University Cards.

The Library uses a Interlibrary Loan automated system for ordering material that are not located in the Library. A one time registration is required. Additional information about Interlibrary Loan is located on the Quick Links under Request an Article/Book.

Study areas are located on both floors of the Library. Group study rooms are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Study carrels may be rented for a nominal fee. Contact Shannon Terral at 706-721-3441 for more information.

The Library has created several quick Flash tutorials for searching the GIL@Augusta University online catalog.

Remote access to Augusta University Library resources, including GALILEO databases, will be your Augusta University JagID.  The Library has a specific a web page, Off-Campus Augusta University Users, for all off-campus access needs.

Use the "Find It@Augusta University" button within databases such as PubMed or Web of Science.

A few institutional print subscription titles come with free online access. In order to access these titles online the publisher requires setting up passwords.

The Library has one scanner on the first floor in the Computer Lab.

The Library is a wireless building. Augusta University faculty, staff, and students, and GR Health employees must go through the ITS Help Desk to set up wireless access. The ITS Help Desk is located in Education Commons Lobby. Laptops can be configured for use on-campus.

The Library hosts a computer lab with 39 computers. Every computer has Internet access, and is loaded with Microsoft Suite.

Augusta University faculty, staff, and students may acquire computer prints for $0.10 per page using a Augusta University JagID Card or setting up an account to use the Augusta University JagID as a debit card. Color printing is available for $0.35 per page.
