If I plan to come/return to campus for Spring and/or Summer 2022 semester from abroad...

When must I be in Augusta, Georgia to start classes for the Spring and Summer 2022 semesters?

  • Spring 2022
    • Summerville Campus undergraduate program students: No later than 05 January 2022
    • Graduate and Professional students: No later than 05 January 2022 – unless notified by your program that an earlier arrival date is required
  • Summer 2022
    • Summerville Campus undergraduate program students: No later than 17 May 2022
    • Graduate and Professional students: No later than 17 May 2022 – unless notified by your program that an earlier arrival date is required

 

Will I be required to quarantine when I arrive in Augusta?

For Spring 2022, may I enroll in more than one online class that will count towards my full course of study?

Yes, however, you must enroll in at least one class that requires physical presence at a specific location under the supervision of an AU faculty or staff member if you plan to remain in the U.S. in valid F-1 status. At Augusta University, the class must meet in-person at least once per week throughout the semester.

Students in valid F-1 status who wish to enroll in all online courses may do so, but must enroll full-time and remain outside the U.S. 

For Summer 2022, am I required to enroll in a full course of study?

If your academic program does not require summer enrollment, then you may enroll full-time, part-time, in-person, online, or not at all. 

If your academic program requires summer enrollment and you remain in the U.S., then to maintain valid F-1 status you must enroll in a full course of study. You must have at least one in-person class that requires physical presence at a specific location under the supervision of an AU faculty or staff member.


If I am outside of the U.S. and enroll in AU courses available online...

May I enroll in Augusta University courses offered online for Spring 2022?

Students in valid F-1 status who wish to enroll in all online courses may do so, but must enroll full-time and remain outside the U.S. 

If you are a first-time enrolled student, then you may remain outside the U.S. and enroll online for Spring 2022, full-time or part-time. 

  • Under F-1 program regulations, you as a student requesting entry to the U.S. in F-1 status
    “. . .may be admitted for a period up to 30 days before the indicated report date or program start date listed on Form I-20.”  8 CFR 214.2(f)(5)(i)
  • Your F-1 status begins when you are granted entry to the U.S. using a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry, a valid F-1 visa, and a valid Form I-20. In addition you may be asked to provide a copy of your admission document, documentation of funding and your SEVIS Form I-901 FMJ fee receipt.
  • If you do not enter on or before your report date or program start date listed on the Form I-20 and your Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) record, your SEVIS record may be updated deferring your report date and program start date to a later semester with academic program approval.
  • If your report date and program start date are deferred, then you will be eligible to enter the U.S. up to 30 days prior to the dates listed on your SEVIS record at that time. 

 

May I enroll in Augusta University courses offered online for Spring 2022?

I am on OPT or STEM OPT...

Do the temporary procedures in place affect my OPT or STEM OPT authorization or reporting requirements?

No. At this time your OPT or OPT STEM employment authorization and reporting requirements remain unchanged.
