Augusta University Web Services offers multiple trainings for the faculty and staff who work diligently to maintain webpages for the university. OU Campus - Beginner and Accessibility Compliance are required to maintain web editor status.
Due to current suspension of face-to-face instruction, our team has transitioned our training courses to an online format.
Online training courses will be held via Webex, but attendees will not need the application on their computer to attend. Please register for a course if you are interested in taking an online training.
We are also offering web publishers one-on-one online consultations with our training instructor, on Thursdays and alternating Fridays. Let our Digital Content Coordinator know if you would like to schedule an individual session.
OU Campus, our current Content Management System (CMS), is simple for those with basic computer knowledge, time to practice, and willingness to learn. All web editors will need to be able to log into a computer using their Net ID. CMS trainings will teach web editors how to:
In rare circumstances, a student and/or temporary employee may receive training, but also will be required to have an existing web publisher from their department to approve all of their work. Contact us for information.
Accessibility Compliance Training is now mandatory for all web editors. It is an hour-long presentation and does not require attendees to have access to computers. The goal of this course is to teach users the basics of how to follow legal guidelines while editing and adding content on the website.
Siteimprove is an accessibility and quality assurance checker we use to crawl the website each week to pinpoint what needs the most attention. In this course, web editors will be given access to their department’s Quality Assurance reports and learn how to view and edit broken links and misspellings directly in the CMS.
Everyone who registers for a training will receive an Outlook invitation for it a few days beforehand. If you do not receive an invitation, but believe you are registered, please let us know.
All publishers are also welcome to peruse our topics covered online and re-take the courses as a refresher.
This is the first step for new content editors or content editors simply wanting a refresher course. The training covers the basics of working within the web content management system.
