Who is eligible for membership at the Wellness Center?

You are eligible for membership if you fall within one of the following categories:

  • Augusta University employees including full-time and part-time faculty, staff, house-staff, residents, postdoctoral fellows and their spouses.
  • Augusta University clinical and adjunct faculty and their spouses.
  • Employees of campus affiliates and their spouses such as AUG UMC, Children's Hospital of GA, Physicians Practice Group, Augusta VA Medical Center (both campuses), Walton Rehabilitation Hospital, Georgia War Veteran's Nursing Home and Augusta University Foundation, Inc., Augusta University contract employees, volunteers and students are also eligible to join.
  • Alumni of Augusta University or any University of Georgia System institution (upon verification) and their spouses.
  • Spouses of Augusta University students with current Wellness Center privileges.
  • Augusta University / AUG UMC / CH of GA / PPG retirees (upon verification) and their spouses.
  • Each Wellness Center member may sponsor one individual who is not affiliated for membership. Special conditions apply - please contact the front desk for complete details.

How do I sign up for membership?

Stop by the front desk. Membership applications are also available online. Simply fill out the application, including your payment information, and email it back to us.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Check, Visa, or MasterCard. You may also authorize payroll deduction if you are a full-time, benefits eligible employee of Augusta University, AUG UMC, CH of GA, or PPG.

Who is eligible for payroll deduction?

Payroll deduction is available for full time employees of Augusta University, AUG UMC and PPG. Please stop by the front desk for more information.

How do I cancel my membership?

If you have met your one year commitment, you can cancel by filling out the cancellation form.  Bring the form to the front desk and we will start the cancellation process.

What about our immediate family?

Children (age 6 to 18) are eligible for membership. Upon the purchase of a Family membership, all children may accompany their parents to the Wellness Center during the designated family hours. Children must be directly supervised by their parents at all times. Immediate family members (siblings, parents, etc.) may be sponsored for membership accompanied by a member with the purchase of a guest pass.

Weekend guest passes for children may be purchased on a per visit basis. The all weekend pass is $8.00 and includes all children (ages 6-18).

Children ages 19 and above are considered as adults. They are eligible for membership as a Dependent. Dependent memberships are provided full access and privileges to the facility.

Other family members (siblings, parents, etc) may accompany a member with the purchase of a guest pass.

Types of Membership Options

My program does not have a summer session. Can I still use the Wellness Center?

Yes. Stop by the front desk and pay the summer student membership fee of $40 and your Augusta University ID card will be activated for summer. This also applies to co-ops, part-time and cross-enrolled students during fall and spring semesters. Fall memberships are valid until December 31st.

Can I bring a guest?

Absolutely! A member may bring two guests per day. Guest fees are $8 per person per day.

Is there a trial membership?

No, currently no trial membership is available.

What is the busiest time at the facility?

While we experience bursts of usage several times a day, utilization tends to be highest during the hours of 4:30 - 7:00 pm.

Where can I park when I visit the Wellness Center?

AU Wellness Center users [including students, members and visitors] will be provided with 2 hours of validated parking in Lot 3. Lot 3 is located at 1488 Laney Walker Blvd.
 
You must present your parking ticket to the Wellness Center front desk to receive the 2-hour validation. All fees for parking beyond 2-hour limit are the responsibility of the student, member, or visitor. Lot 3 charges are $1 for 30 minutes. The parking system only accepts credit or debit card payment. Effective May 2018, parking gates at Lot 3 are in operation 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
 
After 5 pm [and on weekends] additional Campus Recreation parking is available in any space [including reserved spaces] in gravel Lot 10 off of Spellman, and in Deck 4 on Goss Lane. No overnight parking is permitted in Lot 10 or Deck 4.
 
Validation is provided for any Campus Recreation activity in the Wellness Center / Student Center building including open recreation, Group Fitness classes, Intramural Sports, etc.
 
Individuals who are participating in activities at Jaguar Park (Intramural Sports, Club Sports, etc) should use Lot 10 or Deck 4.
 
Individuals who are picking up or dropping off equipment for the Outdoor Recreation program should park in the 15-minute loading zone in Lot 2 (behind the Wellness Center).

Directions & Parking

What should I wear?

Suggested clothing is appropriate work-out attire. Please note - scrubs and jeans are not permitted and appropriate shoes or footwear (no sandals, street shoes or flip flops) must be worn at all times.

Is there someone to help me start a program?

Yes. Personal Trainers are available to help you design and begin an exercise program. The sessions will help you establish individual goals that suit your personal preferences in equipment and exercises. A fee is required for these programs. They also offer an equipment orientation for $25.

Do you offer group exercise classes?

Yes. All classes on the group exercise schedule are included at no addition cost.

Group Exercise Classes

I am not a member, but have signed up to participate in an intramural event that is being played in the Wellness Center. What are my options?

Student spouses (non-members) and Augusta University faculty, staff and housestaff (non-members) who are participating in an intramural event have the option of buying a IM pass for ($20). You may also join the facility as a member and pay the advertised rate. Stop by the front desk for more information.
