The Bachelor of Science in Health Services is an open-degree undergraduate program. “Open-degree” means that students will be able to declare the degree upon matriculation to the university. The program will provide knowledge and skills in healthcare delivery, leadership, cultural competency, global health, bioethics, statistics, and research/innovation. The purpose of the BSHS is to prepare individuals ready to assume medical and healthcare jobs in health services administration. The program curriculum includes courses taught on both the Summerville and Health Sciences campuses.
The US Department of Labor projects that job opportunities for medical and health services management will increase by 29% nationwide and 23% in Georgia. Predicted growth for the industries employing the most health services managers in Georgia are as follows: Social assistance (51%), Healthcare (25%), Education services; state, local, and private (19%), and Finance and insurance (7%).
