MPA Bridge Admissions Requirements

***PLEASE NOTE: The Bridge MPA Program is scheduled to be discontinued effect December 31, 2019. The PA Program is no longer accepting applications for this degree track.***

The College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS) at Augusta University (Augusta University) is implementing a Master of Physician Assistant (MPA) bridge program online that will allow graduates with a baccalaureate in physician assistant studies from an accredited physician assistant program to earn a master’s degree while continuing their career in health care.


A Baccalaureate in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited physician assistant program is REQUIRED.

General Admissions Criteria

  1. A minimum overall 3.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale from baccalaureate PA program.
  2. Official transcripts from all colleges attended and your baccalaureate PA program. Official transcripts should be sent to Augusta University's Office of Academic Admissions. To remain official, all transcripts must remain in the original, unopened, sealed and stamped/signed envelope from the Registrar's Office of the issuing institution. Alternatively, Augusta University will accept official electronic transcripts from the Registrar's Office at your prior institution. Electronic transcripts should be directed to
  3. One reference from a supervising physician is required. The reference should focus on the applicant's aptitude for clinical work and their academic ability. Graduate reference forms and letters can be submitted online only. Applicants list the name and contact information of the supervising physician as a reference during the online application process. Once the application is submitted, the referee will receive an email directing them to complete the online reference form. The completed reference form will then be forwarded to the Office of Academic Admissions via the online application system, CollegeNet. An applicant wishing to change a reference after the application has been submitted must log into his/her CollegeNet account and change the name and contact information for the reference.
  4. Applicants who are actively employed as a PA in a clinical practice are preferred.
  5. Computer literacy is required.

Mandatory Course Prerequisites

Applicants must submit:

  • Proof of current CME (50 hours of Category I and 50 hours of Category II) with 4 of these CME hours in approved pharmacotherapeutics continuing medical education
  • An active NCCPA certification
  • Copy of state license

Applicant must first submit an online application through the Office of Academic Admissions' website. Carefully read the application information and provide thorough answers to each question. You may begin the application and save it for completion at another time within the same application cycle.

Applications are entered into Augusta University's information system the following business day (within 72 hours during peak periods). An email will be sent to the applicant when the application is received by Augusta University. Please check your email setting to allow incoming emails from the domain.

After your application has been processed in our database, you will be able to check your application status for receipt of your supporting documentation. However, processing this documentation takes 5-10 business days, so please allow time for processing. The online status check provides this information in real time. You will see it as soon as it is processed.

The timeline for application decisions varies. Please be patient as we will send this information to you within two business days of receipt in our office.

Note: All required application materials and documents must be received in order for an application to be considered complete and before an admission decision can be made. Applications and supporting materials received after the program deadline will only be considered on a space-available basis.
