Strong skills in visual communication, writing, social media, research, speaking and critical thinking are essential in a competitive job market. Every Communication major receives hands-on training in these skills thanks to a firm groundwork focused on:

  • media literacy
  • media law and ethics
  • undergraduate research
  • visual communication
  • hands-on pre-professional experiences

Communication majors can take additional courses in their career interests, whether that’s photojournalism, TV and video production, radio and podcasting, print journalism or public relations. Students are also mentored by faculty as they intern with a company in the area and gain experience to succeed in their future career. Their degree finishes with a capstone course to help them develop a professional portfolio.
