Reporting Impaired Drivers

Reporting Impaired Drivers

State law allows, but does not require, physicians to report the name, date of birth and address of a driver with impairments to the Georgia Department of Driver Services. The address to use is:

Georgia Department of Driver Services,
ac/o Medical Unit, P.O. Box 80447,
Conyers, Georgia 30013.

State law provides that no civil or criminal action may be brought against any person or agency for reporting a driver with impairments to the Department of Driver Services.

In addition, the Department published regulations with clinical guidelines for certain conditions that may cause impairments. The regulations provided that these guidelines are not to be construed as the exclusive basis upon which the Drivers License Advisory Board may recommend refusal or revocation of licenses from functionally incapacitated persons.

Physicians should submit their report by using the appropriate department provided form. Complete form to report vision problems.
